City Recruits for Advisory Commissions
October 16, 2018
The following is a press release from the City of Davis. I encourage Davisites to apply for Commissions they are interested in serving on. I have served on the Open Space and Habitat Commission for a number of years now and find it to be a rewarding experience. I’d be happy to chat with anyone who is interested about serving on the OSHC in particular (since we need members, as you can see from below) or on City Commissions in general. –Roberta Millstein
The City of Davis is accepting applications from citizens, 18 years of age and older, interested in serving on one of the following commissions:
- Bicycling, Transportation & Street Safety
- Historical Resources Management
- Natural Resources
- Open Space & Habitat
- Personnel Board
- Planning
- Police Accountability - NEW
- Recreation and Park
- Senior Citizen
- Tree
- Utility Rate Advisory
By serving on a city commission, you can help plan the future of Davis. Commissions serve as a conduit for citizen input – a way of gathering, analyzing and recommending options to the City Council. Commissions also provide an important avenue for determining the community’s feelings about issues and extending the reach of the democratic process.
Applications may be picked up at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 23 Russell Boulevard during regular business hours, or downloaded at http://cityofdavis.org/city-hall/city-council/commissions-and-committees/apply-to-serve-on-a-city-commission.
Please be aware that all applications and accompanying documents are considered public information and may be disclosed/released pursuant to the California Public Records Act.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: November 1, 2018
Applications may be submitted, in person or via mail, to the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 23 Russell Boulevard, Davis, CA 95616; or via e-mail to [email protected].
In addition to the application form, commission applicants will participate in a 10-minute private interview with the Council Subcommittee on Commissions and city staff. Applications are tentatively scheduled to be submitted to City Council for appointment in mid-November 2018.
