(From press release) A local Davis woman, Suzanne Meraz, has been selected as one of the top 123 insurance professionals across the country and globe.

As Director, External Affairs of CSAA Insurance Group, Suzanne was chosen due to her and her teams' positive impacts on the insurance industry. Suzanne says, "As society's financial first responders, we're making and delivering on a promise to people to be there for people in their time of need. It feels good to be working in an industry that is doing something positive for the economy, for people, and for communities."

Six leaders from CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer, are among the 123 insurance professionals from across the country and overseas named to the 2021 Class of Emerging Leaders. The class will be honored at the 2021 Virtual Emerging Leaders Conference on Feb. 22-23, hosted by the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA), the Insurance Careers Movement (ICM) and AM Best.

The conference – which is held in conjunction with the 6th Annual Insurance Careers Month in February – is designed to bring together and recognize talented and diverse rising stars in the insurance industry. Those selected represent a wide range of job functions, including technology, claims, government relations, underwriting, human resources, marketing, legal, product development, actuarial, and public relations. Nominees must have more than eight years of job experience and a demonstrated positive impact on their companies and the insurance industry. This year, many nominees also played a pivotal role in helping their companies navigate the challenges of the pandemic or with diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

CSAA Insurance Group’s six Emerging Leaders are:

  • Briana Clifford (Manager, State Product)
  • Beti Cung (Director, Innovation Labs)
  • Jachyn Davis (Director, Assistant General Counsel, Corporate Employment and Benefits Law)
  • Suzanne Meraz (Director, External Affairs)
  • Christian Myers (Director, Actuarial)
  • Maureen Parish (Director, Customer Insights)

“We’re very proud to have so many of our talented professionals recognized among this outstanding group,” said Melissa Jones, executive vice president and chief human resources officer at CSAA Insurance Group. “With many insurance professionals retiring in the coming years, it’s more important than ever to support emerging talent. We want to make sure we're doing everything possible to competitively attract, retain and motivate diverse talent across the industry. We want to set us all up for success to serve the customers of today and tomorrow.”

After the Emerging Leaders Conference, the rising stars will join their fellow alumni in serving as ambassadors for the industry and in helping expand career opportunities in insurance.

I am at a loss regarding the reason for this article, or what it actually signifies.

Roberta L. Millstein

Ron, it was sent to us and I agreed to post it because it is about a Davisite getting recognition for her work. My view of this blog is that it is a space for different things about the Davis community and its people. I'd be happy if we had articles about other types of recognition that Davisites are getting -- among other types of articles, of course.
