“Stuff the Bus” Food Drive on Saturday, Dec. 7
(From press release) Unitrans and the Davis Food Co-op are proud to host the “Stuff the Bus” holiday food drive to support The Pantry, the University of California, Davis, an Associated Students of UC Davis (ASUCD) led organization that provides nonperishable, high-protein food for UC Davis students struggling to pay for meals.
A vintage Unitrans London double-decker will be on display at the Davis Food Co-op and volunteers will be receiving food donations from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Davis Food Co-op, 620 G St.
All donations received will be delivered to The Pantry to assist those in need in our campus and city community. Foods that are needed include canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meat, low-sugar cereal, peanut butter, whole grain pasta, rice, canned or dry beans, 100 percent fruit juice and shelf-stable milk.
Started in a living room in 1972, the Davis Food Co-op has grown into a full-service grocery store owned and operated by more than 10,000 households. The Davis Food Co-op showcases natural, organic and local foods, but strives to offer a full spectrum of groceries to serve our entire community. Unitrans, the public transit service for the city of Davis and UC Davis, has been serving the Davis community for more than 50 years, with a fleet of red buses that includes new and vintage double-deckers.
